Doodle time - trying out different colours
You know how you can sometimes get 'stuck' using the same colours over and over again?
I noticed it in my doodling and decided to try something different.
A darker yellow mixed with greys. I love the results!
I used both the waterproof Micron and a thicker waterproof marker, but also a watersoluble fineliner, giving a subtle grey wash.

Doodle time!
I first doodled in permanent ink, using a Micron pen:
I then added some bolder lines, in watersoluble pen:
and then filled in these shapes:
Using my Koh-i-Noor watercolours, I filled in the shapes with reds:
then I cross-hatched around the doodle, using the watersoluble pen again:
using a bit of water, that gave it a nice grey wash, finishing the doodle:

Cleaning my palette
After doing my lunch time drawings, I still had quite a bit of paint on my palette that I did not want to just wipe off and throw away.
I decided to use it for a background, maybe.
but as I looked at what I had on my page, I opted for tracing them instead:
I added some background colour:
and gave the shapes a bit more definition:
With the background colour, they reminded me a bit of giraffe spots. Another very simple doodle done:

March Art Journaling Challenge, day 4
Today's prompt was 'Doodle'. Now, that sounds easy, and it is, if you have some real doodles laying around. Unfortunately, I don't have a day-job at the moment that has me doodling on pieces of paper while I am stuck in meetings or talking to clients on the phone. And I don't have all that many long talks on the phone while at home. If I do, and it's while talking to my family in Holland, we're on Skype and I don't doodle during those conversations.
The 'problem' is that when you say 'I'll go and do some doodling', it's not really doodling at all! A doodle in my mind is something you scribble while doing something else. You're not paying any attention at what you're doing, you're making shapes and connecting them without even realising you're doing it. If you set out to 'do some doodling', you're drawing and not doodling...
Anywayyysss.. here are my pictures for today. Only a few of these are actual doodles, made during the ad-breaks while watching Grey's Anatomy...

It's not too late to join the fun!
